Tips and Tricks for Happy RV'ing

General

  • Exercise. We all know exercise is good for us and especially if you are on the road a lot. We have two books "8 Minutes in the Morning" that we take with us pretty well where ever we go. We have found that doing the 8 minutes in the morning is a fantastic way to start the day. Check out the books under "Exercise - Liz & Anders' personal pics" in our on-line store
  • Heat Tape. This is like an electric blanket but about an inch wide and 10-20 feet long. You wrap it around your water hose connection to your RV and plug it in. Great for camping in early spring or late fall when you get frost at night.
  • Two Way Radios. Buy a good set of water resistant two way radios. They are especially great for when you back up your RV. Your partner can give you directions without a lot of screaming and yelling. Also great when you are out fishing or hiking or keeping track of the kids.
  • No Breakables in the back of the RV. The back part of the trailer is pretty well the roughest part of the trailer. Stuff that can break should be stored closer to the hitch. We lost some wine storing it in the back.
  • Electric hot plate. We always have a two burner electric hot plate with us for cooking outside when the weather is good and we have elctric hook up.
  • Accessories. Bring extention cords, an extra water hose, pressure reducing valve, extra tv cable, night lights, flash lights, level.

5th Wheel Trailers

  • Show the way. Before backing up in to your assigned camping spot. Stop get out and walk the site, have a look and discuss with your partner where you hope to steer the trailer to arrive in the perfect spot.
  • When backing up your 5th wheel, with your partner standing behind your RV, put your hands on the bottom of the steering wheel. When your partner is giving you directions (over the two way radio) to turn right, move the wheel to the right. Easy as pie. The opposite, hands on top of the steering wheel if your partner is standing in front of you, facing you.

Travel Trailer
